Best Bedtime Reads

November 17, 2008

There really is nothing quite like a cuddly bed time story, is there? These are some of the favorites at our house.

(1) Mommy's Best Kisses by Margaret Anastas and Susan Winter. This story is just sweetness from start to finish (and my kids love it when I kiss their head, elbows, knees, etc. as we read)

(2) Goodnight, Goodnight Sleepyhead by Ruth Krauss with the most lovely decorations from Jane Dyer.

(3) No Matter What by Deb Gliori. This one is particularly good after a tough day because it sends the message that parents will always loves their children, even if their behavior has been not so great.

(4) The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton. I suspect that you are already familiar with at least one of Sandra Boynton's board book series. I like this story because my kids have memorized all of he rhyming words and they like to read aloud with me (our favorite part is when they all go up to exercise!).

(5) Hug by Jez Alborough. This book tells the story of a lost monkey who just wants a hug as he searches for his mama (also good for getting a few cuddles in before tuck in time).

Oh, and there are so many other good ones out there.  What are some of the favorites at your house?
