Celebrate Earth Hour with Your Kids
March 23, 2009
Can your family devote one hour to turning off all of your lights and powering down your electronics to raise awareness about global warming? In addition to being a chance to teach your little ones about conserving our earth's resources, you will also have an extra hour of quiet, family time.
On March 28, 2009 between the hours of 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., join with the thousands of other local houses and business that will be celebrating Earth Hour by going dark. Use Earth Hour as an opportunity to talk to your children about the importance of doing our part to conserve the earth's resources. While the lights are out, sit together by candlelight and play games, sing songs or . . . just talk to each other. Have a late night "snack" on a picnic blanket. Go outside and take a peek at the stars in the sky.
Visit the Earth Hour website for more information and to sign up to participate.

Mom and Dad's Big Night Out!
February 06, 2009
Sometimes Moms and Dads need a night out without the kids - this is a universal truth. But it isn't always so easy to get away for a few hours to catch a show or enjoy some adult conversation over a meal that doesn't include chicken nuggets. And sometimes it can be really tough to find a good babysitter to make it all possible. Check out these options for your next parent's night out. Parent's Read more...
Laughing Out Loud: Favorite Funny Stories
November 18, 2008
I love that my kids have a sense of humor now. Nothing is cuter than seeing your little one get the joke for the first time. Because it is just so darn enjoyable to watch them belly laugh, I think that it is a good idea to have a decent collection of funny tales on hand. These are some of our funny faves. Bendemolina (or the Girl Who Wore a Pot on Her Head) by Jan Slepian is a great book. Our Read more...
Best Bedtime Reads
November 17, 2008
There really is nothing quite like a cuddly bed time story, is there? These are some of the favorites at our house. (1) Mommy's Best Kisses by Margaret Anastas and Susan Winter. This story is just sweetness from start to finish (and my kids love it when I kiss their head, elbows, knees, etc. as we read) (2) Goodnight, Goodnight Sleepyhead by Ruth Krauss with the most lovely decorations from Read more...
Splish Splash! Having Fun in the Bath!
August 28, 2008
The nighttime bath ritual can be more than a much-needed head-to-toe scrub down. Throw in a few toys and some imagination, and bath time can be the perfect opportunity for creative play. I must confess that I love bath time at our house because my kids can play in a contained space and Mom gets to sit down on the step stool for a few minutes while they entertain each other (yeah!).
